Tan-Tango / Cabaretango
The two acts each combine rhythm and humour in the style of a mime-clown, proficiency with stilts, audience participation, a contrast between elegance and audacity and a touch of playful provocation, held together by the music of tango and a distinct aesthetic style. There are several features that differentiate the two acts. As a result, TAN-TANGO is suitable for everyone while CABARETANGO is more tailored towards adults. Finally, as an act without a spoken narrative, are also appropriate for an international audience.
The performances were created to be adapted to different types of settings: milongas, festivals (tango, dance, theatre, circus, clown, street performance), schools, public and private events, for children, families and adults, exhibitions, inaugurations, hotels, clubs.
The shows last approximately 45 minutes, however they can also be shortened or separated into blocks in order to suit specific events such as milongas (where there is a wish to not interrupt the dancing for long), or a presentation that has breaks, which require a short entertaining scene.
Content
The inspiration that gave birth to TAN-TANGO and CABARETANGO was the desire to use the language of dance, gestures and poetry to reflect on some concerns typical of this age of changing attitudes: how the concepts of feminine and masculine are becoming more relative, how traditions are being transformed or are disappearing, how local identity or a sense of belonging can survive in a globalised world, how limiting patterns weigh us down, how today the eternal oscillation between social and self-acceptance is developing.
Tango functions like a metaphor for this intention: it is a cliché that links the protagonist to his place of origin while at the same time putting him in the paradoxical position of having to dance alone a dance conceived for a couple.
